Wrangell St. Elias National Park / Kennicott Day Tours

See one of the most impressive ghost towns in Alaska, surrounded by some of the most exciting scenery on the continent. Our Kennicott day tours take you deep inside Wrangell St. Elias National Park, home to 9 of the 16 highest mountains in the US and the largest, non-polar ice-field in the world! Participants chose between the active or historic packages, but both will provide stunning views of this wonderful wilness region and an interesting introduction to the impressive 1930’s era copper mine. On either tour, participants will have the opportunity to visit the frontier town of McCarthy (population 30!) to visit the local museum and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a rustic Alaskan bush community. Departing from Chitina, this tour is perfect for those who are travelling from Valdez to Fairbanks or Tok, but don’t have the time for longer exploration in the park.
