Yukon Wildlife Safari by Horseback
7 days and 6 nights

Explore some of the worlds most remote and pristine mountain wilderness. Join us on a horseback safari adventure into the wild mountains and valleys of the Yukon. The focus of this journey is to find, observe and photograph northern wildlife, including Grizzly bears, Wolves, Moose, Dall sheep, Mountain Goats and Caribou – and really get to know and appreciate the many wild animals of the north. We achieve this by traveling light and leaving little, bringing our camp with us as we go. We ride over high mountain passes, between jagged peaks, along raging rivers, through virgin forests and across beautiful alpine tundra meadows. Travel with a small family run business focused on providing exceptional, authentic, and educational wilderness adventures.

Travel Itinerary:

Day 01 - Whitehorse – Base Camp
On the first day of your adventure we bring you to our remote and quiet base camp on a beautiful lake. Our base camp is outfitted with canvas wall tents, a sheltered eating area, folding chairs, solar shower, and dome style sleeping tents. After lunch we will pair you up with your saddle horse and give you an introduction into mountain riding. Afterwards you can enjoy a quiet dinner by the campfire, before settling into your tent for the night.

Day 02 - Base Camp
Today we will head out for a day ride so that you can get comfortable with your horse and travelling through mountainous terrain. During the trip, we will be travelling through forests, up and down steep mountain trails, through rivers and across spectacular high mountain plateaus. We travel in single file at a fast walk, known as the “packstring.” When we return to camp that evening, we will feed the horses some grain, put bells and hobbles on them and set them out to graze for the night. After having another great dinner by the fire we will get prepared for the days to come on the trail.

Day 03 - 07 - Trail Riding
Next morning we will break camp, pack up the horses and ride off into the mountains. For the remainder of the journey we will be travelling with the packstring, making camp as we go, sleeping in dome tents and cooking over an open fire. Every day of this safari will be filled with wildlife observation and tracking.
